Study Week Logs

The following is of a constantly updated log of when I was studying for my final paper.
Or just attempting to study myself to death, now that I’ve read everything again.

Enjoy.

Monday, 18 August 2014
0800hr GMT+8
I awaken from my slumber and my body is aching from scaling high walls the day before. I can barely move my fingers to clench into a fist around my phone but I try and try. Eventually, I managed to swipe the snooze button.

0825hr GMT+8
I swiped the snooze button too many time and am now late. My limbs are aching and I can barely pull my tank top over my head. I end up swapping my facial cleanser for toothpaste in the bathroom.

0835hr GMT+8
I’m eating buns I bought from AMK Hub the day before. All of them taste weird, I fear I have eaten something wrong to start my day off. The cream cheese was sour.

0850hr GMT+8
I exit the bathroom. In confirmation, I have indeed eaten something bad and managed to lose my entire breakfast within 15minutes. How the food traveled so fast through my system, I don’t know.

0905hr GMT+8
Missed the bus and next bus is in 15minutes. I inform study buddy that I will be late. I think she is still sleeping.

1015hr GMT+8
1408327248641
Despite being late, library is fairly empty. I set up my laptop and get to work.

1105hr GMT+8
Study buddy, Mia, arrives. She suggests lunch and we agree on going for instant meals downstairs as soon as I finish my first topic.

1245hr GMT+8
I start microwaving my meal.

1250hr GMT+8
I drop said meal (mac and cheese) on the floor of Cheers.

1255hr GMT+8
I buy an egg mayo sandwich and blueberry muffins.

1300hr GMT+8
I find out that both food items suck.

1400hr GMT+8
Chubby Bunny challenge is initiated mid-study. I managed to get up to 10 Chubby Bunnies. My cheeks hurt.

1600hr GMT+8
Study buddy has given up on studying. Boyfriend is coming to pick her up at 1700hrs.

1730hr GMT+8
I am about to give up studying myself when this happens.
1408352049300
I decide to press on.

1935hrs GMT+8
My hand can barely grip my stationary and I am going insane without human contact. I have started giving my notes personalities.

2000hr GMT+8
The library is closing and I must go home. I almost finished Topic 2.

Tuesday, 19 August 2014
0800hr GMT+8
I think my body aches more than yesterday But I managed to get out of bed.

0845hr GMT+8
I am not hungry so I packed bread for school. Spread: Peanut Butter and Nutella.

0905hr GMT+8
I board the bus on time this time round and realized I have no idea if my study buddy is coming down today.

0945hr GMT+8
The study area is rather crowded today. I manage to find a table and set up my laptop.

1034hr GMT+8
Study buddy inquires location through text, then called me because I did not reply. Meanwhile, I am caught for eating my breakfast in the library.

1037hr GMT+8
I get started on the remaining of Topic 2.

1136hr GMT+8
Finish Topic 2 that happens to be misnumbered, which explains why I studied the wrong chapter for the last quiz.
20140819_113616

1145hrs GMT+8
We leave our seat to have lunch at the Applied Science school, leaving Private Kevin to guard our belongings.
20140819_114333

1247hrs GMT+8
We walk over to Cheers because I was craving lollipops and came across a Hello Kitty Series My Melody figure. I plan to buy it as a little reward to myself on Friday after my studies.

13000hrs GMT+8
Wawawewa?
20140819_114510

1315hr GMT+8
I begin revision on Luminaries Calculation questions.

1331 GMT+8
I have embarked on Topic 3.

1500hr GMT+8
‘The temperature rise of the water passing through the condenser should be 5°C with a difference of 5°C existing between the condensing temperature and the temperature of the water leaving the condenser.’
What the cheese did I just write down? I don’t know anymore.

1524hr GMT+8
Screw Compressors. I agree.

1545hr GMT+8
I’ve already spelt ‘Refrigerant’ wrongly 5 times and am craving hugs, cuddles and warmth- so basically just my bed.

1606hr GMT+8
My black sharpie runs out of ink but I am prepared with another on hand.

1735hr GMT+8
Mia makes a Whatapp group called ‘The All SEC Rejects’ for Mia, QQ and I to arrange meetings easily.

1846hr GMT+8
I thought I was tired. Turns out I needed to pee so I toilet break-ed.
ArcSoft_Image16

1914hr GMT+8
I finish Topic 3’s Theory and have decided that I am done for the day.

Wednesday, 20 Auguest 2014
0532hr GMT+8
I wake up suddenly from a bad dream and reach to check my phone for time and messages. I get caught by the room mate and promptly gets scolded for being up so early. I retaliate with as much aggression an early morning silence can take before forcing myself to sleep. I only manage to get to sleep an hour later.

0820hr GMT+8
I get to legally wake up in my own house now. I’m still extremely tired and the morning is chilly but I manage to get out of bed. Breakfast was leftover noodles and chicken from the day before. I’m bringing Quadratinis’ for snacking later.

0945hr GMT+8
I reach school earlier than expected. The tables are very empty so I get to pick the table most centered power outlet.

1013hr GMT+8
I get started on Topic 4. Observe that my exercise book is running out of pages. Study buddy also texted to inform that she would be late as she isn’t feeling well. I tell her to have lunch at home and decide to have my Quadratinis’ for lunch instead.

1138hr GMT+8
Finished half the bag of wafers and am very full. My music is making me feel a little sad but I don’t feel like changing it.

1327hr GMT+8
Mia and QQ arrives. I’m half way through Topic 4.

1415hr GMT+8
Mia teaches QQ how to draw a pad. The starting shape is a peanut shell. They are waiting for me to finish Topic 4 before going to lunch.
Mia also remarked ‘If anything (in the book) has anything to do with be ‘intelligent’, remember it if not it will outsmart you.’.

1435hr GMT+8
We go for lunch.
20140820_145008

1535hr GMT+8
I attempt to change my calculator’s battery.
20140820_152719
But I failed so Mia took over.
20140820_152801
We were going too slow so QQ tried as well.
20140820_153423
Then it turned out that I bought the wrong battery. FML.

1610hr GMT+8
I finish up the last of Topic 4 and start on Topic 5.

1700hr GMT+8
My hands are shaking as I write my notes. I’m not sure if it’s the coffee or if I’m coming down with something.

1825hr GMT+8
I didn’t notice the time go by. I’m barely half way through Topic 5. I’m freezing and drying heaving.

1905hr GMT+8
I almost hit the half way mark. I burped and I could still taste breakfast. I’ve dropped my stationary involuntarily 4 times in the last 15mins. If this log is posted without other days logged in, you can safely say that I am dead.

1915hr GMT+8
My saliva started tasting like melted aspirins so I wash it down with water cooler water only to find that said water tastes like chloride/pool water.

1947hr GMT+8
I finally hit the half way mark of Topic 5. My head is pounding so I think I’ll stop here for now and continue tomorrow.

Thursday, 21 August 2014
0730hr GMT+8
I wake up after at least 8hours of sleep. My toothpaste tastes funny and I remember that I should be checking my temperature. I’m at 38.5°C but I don’t feel too horrible so I prepare for school.

0830hr GMT+8
Strangely, I do not feel hungry so I skip breakfast for now or at least till I get hungry later.

0900hr GMT+8
I’m in the bus. I’m sleepy but I can’t seem to fall asleep. Reminds me of the time I was on meds.

1006hr GMT+8
20140821_095207

I reach school and remember that study buddy mentioned that she’s sick as well so I may be by myself today depending if QQ decides to come down. I also watch a couple videos before I get down to doing anything productive. Mental note to buy new blades for the penknife.

1026hr GMT+8
I get started with the last of Topic 5.

1306hr GMT+8
I finally finish Topic 5 and realize that it’s lunch time. I’m not hungry and even if I may sometime be, I’m not sure what to get. Maybe I’ll get coffee when I go down to buy stationary for my tutorial revision later.

1336hr GMT+8
Study buddies arrive and we head down to have lunch and I have a slight meltdown when I end up missing both lifts while I’m walking over.
20140821_133114

1341hr GMT+8
We reach the ground floor and I finally get to sun myself after freezing over in the library courtesy of my fever.
20140821_133602
Yes, I do realize that my left arm seems a tad broken but it’s not.

1350hr GMT+8
Definitely delirious at this point, Mia (sick) and I (also sick) take really stupid pictures.
20140821_133837Bvj2FHACAAArr6p

1400hr GMT+8
We sit down for a light lunch. None of us are eating alot because QQ is going for his NAFA run while Mia and I don’t really have much appetite. I bought coffee too but for the first time ever, I couldn’t finish it.

1439hr GMT+8
We (or at least just Mia) attempted to change my calculator batteries again.
20140821_142316
A 5 year old battery.
20140821_142422
Mia was kind of amazed with the inside of the calculator. I was too, except I was too tired to react to anything.
20140821_142431
I am blessed to know that my calculation will last me another 5 years even though I don’t count on using it anymore after my final paper.

1422hr GMT+8
Mia and I head down to print past year papers.

1445hr GMT+8
Mia asks me if I would ever turn lesbian after I show her my girl crush on instagram. I reply saying ‘No, I only want to be the guy I want to be with because birds of a feather flock together.’
She proceeds to ask me if I would still go for a guy who turns out to be transgender. I say No, ‘because the sex would be weird’.

1509hr GMT+8
We return from our paper printing and I start on Tutorial 1. Within 5 minutes, I manage to misspell ‘Tutorial #1’ as ‘Totorial #1’.

1615hr GMT+8
QQ is done with his NAFA retake. He didn’t manage to get a silver and Mia said he looked sad and defeated when she met him at the bookshop. I am also reminded a little too late that I was supposed to get blades for the penknife.

1743hr GMT+8
Was finishing Tutorial 2 when Mia snapped at picture of the current war zone of a table we are studying in.
BvjY47fCUAEAw5j

1923hr GMT+8
I’m done with Tutorial 2. Where did the time go? On the bright side, I think my fever broke.

1931hr GMT+8
I start on Tutorial 3. Surely 9 questions wouldn’t be too hard.

2008hr GMT+8
I’m being chased out my the librarian. I’m still at question 8 of Tutorial 3. I guess I’ll pack up and finish up the last of it tomorrow.

Friday, 22 August 2014
0800hr GMT+8
I get up and for the first time this week I don’t feel sore or fatigued. In fact, I’m in a glorious mood and my hair looks fierce.
20140822_083819

0815hr GMT+8
To wake myself up more, I download an app called Timberman from the app store and play it long enough to beat a highscore a friend posted on Facebook the day before.
Screenshot_2014-08-22-08-24-46
I can safely say I’m pretty addicted to it right now.

0835hr GMT+8
I settle down for breakfast. Am famished. Glad my appetite is back.
20140822_084337
Roomie also packs Banana-Nutella bread for me to bring to school because she noticed that I was looking sad and pathetic the last few days.

0905hr GMT+8
I arrive downstairs just as the bus arrives. Today seems like a good day.

0945hr GMT+8
I reach school and as I adjust my backpack, a strap gives way and I drop my bag (essentially my laptop) on the ground. I know I should have screamed but instead I’m trying to keep myself from laughing.

0955hr GMT+8
Sudden realization that my laptop is already in itself, dying, and that it may not turn on later on.

1000hr GMT+8
I find out, to my relief, that it still works.
1408672630549

1015hr GMT+8
I finish the 4 slices of banana-nutella sandwiches in my bag and realize to my horror that I’d just eaten 7 slices of bread within a span of 2hours.

1024hr GMT+8
I get started on the remaining questions of Tutorial 3.

1146hr GMT+8
I realize that I just spent an hour attempting to figure out how to solve a calculation question.

1222hr GMT+8
I keep hearing vibrations from my table. I’m not sure if someone is pulling some kinky prank on me or if I’m finally going insane.

1235hr GMT+8
I’m can’t seem to do an advanced question from Tutorial 3 so I’m skipping it and moving on to Tutorial 4. Mental note to ask Mia if she knows how to do it or if we can text someone for visual answers.

1344hr GMT+8
Study buddies arrive. I’m half way through Tutorial 4.

1434hr GMT+8
I finish Tutorial 4 and am moving on to Tutorial 5. Meanwhile, Mia points out the damage on my laptop.
Bvnv6o0CcAArXGu

1502hr GMT+8
We go for lunch. I have cup noodles and Yuzu juice.
20140822_152457

1535hr GMT+8
I’m not sure if I’m still hungry so I go back to Cheers to see if I want anything.
20140822_154652

1612hr GMT+8
Instead I smuggle stuff up to the library for Mia.
20140822_155546

1614hr GMT+8
I get back to work on Tutorial 5.

1655hr GMT+8
Mia attempts to flip me off my chair and I choke on a chocolate pretzel.

1805hr GMT+8
I finally finish Tutorial 5.

1902hr GMT+8
Finished MCQs for one past year paper. Am taking a short break before I move on to theory and calculation questions. But first, lemme take a selfie.
ArcSoft_Image17

1908hr GMT+8
We start theory questions.

2010hr GMT+8
Mia is still here with me but her mother is coming to pick her up. I guess I’ll leave when she does.

2025hr GMT+8
Mia’s mom is here so I guess I’m going.

Saturday, 23 August 2014 (SUMMARY)
One of the days that I allow myself to sleep in. I wake at 12pm and play afew rounds with the PSO team but I start lagging and retire to my quarters (give up), which is where I find a bunch of random things in the middle of my room.
pso20140823_223422_000
Sigh.

Procrastinating my studies, I attempt to teach a friend Chinese from scratch (not that I’m that good, it’s just that I know so little, there’s so little to teach), much to my delight and amusement. He still can’t say ‘fish’ in chinese, Yu-er.

Finally, I start studying/ doing past year papers at 3pm till 6.30pm, where Roomie suggests we go down for dinner.
20140823_191840
I only get back home at 8pm, where Roomie goes and watch a couple of movies in my sister’s room while I proceed to strum a few songs on my guitar and scare myself shitless with Pewdiepie videos (DreadOut got me).

I was half way through watching the Silent Hill PS4 Playable Trailer when my internet disconnected me from the internet, which was a good thing because I was already so spooked and had to look at pictures of puppies on Tumblr to get to sleep.

Sunday, 24 August 2014 (SUMMARY)
I wake up at 12pm thanks to my brother-in-law harassing me and only manage to have lunch at 1pm because I lazed around in bed. I go back online to PSO to play with the team but my lag is still there (probably because I dropped my laptop a few days ago) so I stay at the lobby to chat with other players till I get bored.

A while later, my friend starts playing Resident Evil 4 on share screen and I decide to start doing past year papers because he kept shooting the zombies in the crotch and dying after because he ran out of ammo.

At 6.30pm, I leave the house to meet the Mother and only get home at roughly 8pm to wash up and get back online.

It seems that my lag is here to stay because I managed to lag in the lobby of PSO (normally I do not) as well. I complain to the team and they start recommending laptops for me to change to. Suddenly motivated to research, I start looking at laptops online (mainly Acer, because their new laptops looks really good).

I am also reminded that I have to get my Freddy Krueger top within this week or I won’t make it for STGCC and I start stressing out at 11.00pm over it till I finally find it on Carousell.

Monday, 25 August 2014
0815hr GMT+8
I wake up with the song ‘Anaconda’ by Nikki Minaj stuck in my head and decide it is a good day.

0835hr GMT+8
I have breakfast, Mr Bean pancakes, and forget the flavours I bought the day before. Roomie informs me that Dad is ordering KFC tonight for dinner. I guess I know what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow.

0955hr GMT+8
I reach school while study buddy is on her way. She’s having a sore throat so she’ll have to watch what she’s having for lunch today.

1030hr GMT+8
I set up and start looking at definitions to memorize for tomorrow.

1130hr GMT+8
I start grilling Mia.

1300hr GMT+8
We go for lunch and I have instant noodles with instant egg again. Afterwards we buy chocolate (I think my period is coming again. TMI but I don’t care.) for mugging and head up.
20140825_132359

1335hr GMT+8
Mia successfully remembers Kyoto Protocol.

1541hr GMT+8
We just get to Topic 3 revision.
20140825_133030

1728hr GMT+8
We are half way through Topic 4!

1829hr GMT+8
We are done Topic 5 revision and decide to head back home early.

All the best to us!

Friday is Forever

image
Whaaaat’s up guys! Since I have been doing nothing but school (and PSO2) these few days, I’ve decided to write about my times in school because I wanna upload all these overdue pictures. #whatsnew

Also because it’s 1am in the morning and I can’t sleep so… *shrug*

Let’s do this thing.

8am lessons. I have them on Fridays, which automatically make them ‘Thank God I Managed To Wake Up For Class’ instead of ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ because let’s face it, I was probably up till 3am the day before, swearing to myself that I’ll have one additional coffee for every hour I sleep later. The problem with that form of logic is that I have to wake up for my coffee first, so you can imagine my utter regret when my alarm goes off on Friday mornings.
image
image
image
image
You must be wondering though, for such a horrible timing for lessons, why such sunny photos?

Well you see, my 8am lessons are design classes, which means I have to be all artsy fartsy and go around taking pictures or drawing stuff. It also means I get to have a MacDees breakfast first if I get there before my teacher.

On occasion, these lessons become surprisingly interesting, like that one time I went up to the roof of my school for the first time ever.

image
image
image
My Fridays are also rather eventful, and by that I mean me actually going out to somewhere besides home, school and the comic book shop with friends, because I have no life.
image
image
During these outings, I go to malls I haven’t visited in maybe half a year and discover -to my utter glee- that there are new dessert or bakeries opened.

For the above picture, I’d discovered PJ&J CINNAMON BUNS. It is in caps and bolded because it is very important information. Ironically, I have come to forget the name of the shop, only remembering that I bought it at the basement of Bugis Junction.
image
image
A photo that I thought was cute but both my friend and I decided that IT SHOULD NEVER be posted to instagram because someone could just photoshop my face onto some AV girl’s porn flick.

ON THE FLIP SIDE

This is what happens when 8am lessons aren’t as interesting. Judging by how much coffee is on my table, I probably slept at 2am the night before, to wake up at 6am the following morning.

Or a few hours later.
image
image
And of course, a middle finger to the poor studious-looking-but-really-isnt groupmate who sits behind us (fellow groupmate, Mia and I).

But like I’ve said many times over, coffee is magic. So give it a few minutes (like half an hour or something) and BAM.

Good as new and ready to wreck havoc.

Or just, you know, pay attention in class.

*cough*

As much as I have little need to wake up early for anything, there comes my next earliest class.

THE 10AM CLASS

Basically, the 10am class is a PW class that no one really pays attention to unless there are lab works or assignments. Till this date, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to take away from it and I’m finishing school in less than a month. (Insert shrug) At least I can say that it has been relatively painless.

Pictures below are of our last official lesson together with our teacher, even though I never really realized it was the last lesson till people started getting all sentimental and taking pictures with the lecturer.

For me I just shrugged and thought ‘this could go onto my blog’ and took pictures. It’s not like I had anything better to do then anyway.
image
image
image
image
And of course, since it was the last lesson (that I didn’t notice was the last lesson), Mia and I decided to treat ourself to this thing called ‘BlackBall’, which really is this awesome thing that came from Taiwan. When you eat it warm it tastes like holding hands on the beach and when it’s cold it’s like being at a party you can’t can mortally drunk at. Everyone should try it.

Also, thank you Taiwan.

The pictures were a must because my hair looked fierce and Mia’s hijab’s colour was totally rad.

image
Random hamster face photo.

On an entirely random note and also because I’m too lazy to write a separate post,

I finally went Hari Raya Visiting this year!
*confetti*

I haven’t been able to go because I never really had any close malay friends, NOT because I have no friends, okay. ):

In fact, I have awesome friends who are total potter heads with enough merch to dress me up for an impromptu casual cosplay.
image
Do you think I suit Gryffindor? I always thought I’d be a Ravenclaw. Where’s a sorting hat when you need one???
image
Anyway, I went to Mia’s house and ate and ate and ate and ate and ate till I couldn’t anymore because malay food is soooooo gooooooood and home cooked ones are even better because they are infused with family love.

We ate and watched How I Met Your Mother and Friends With Better Lives in Mia’s room, while I then proceeded to spill Fanta grape on my top and a patch on my jeans on two seperate occasions.

On the bright side, I found out that my top was rather waterproof, which kinda awed me, until I saw it start to slowly seep into my clothes, to which I practically snatched the tissue from Mia instead of taking the picture I said I wanted.

I would have taken a picture of it, but I thought of how I would rather have a tumblr-worthy picture and have ants attack me on the bus or something or not have the picture and stone on the bus in peace. Let’s just say I detest anything with more than four legs and I treasure my time spent on long lonely bus rides.

My jeans on the other hand, was totally cool with the fanta grape and soaked it all up so I ended up with a sticky knee when I took off my jeans at the end of the day. It was…really, really unpleasant.

OH AND

I tried this tidbit called Chocolate Almonds and IT WAS THE BOMB I tell you. I would look forward to Hari Raya just for them. #thingsineedtoremembertoeatyearly

At the end of the day I was really tired and really full. Submission week is coming up next week and it really helped me relive a lot of stress.

Moral of the story: Keep going out with your friends because one day they will HAVE to invite you over and then you can eat awesome food.

Wish me luck for submission week,
Cherie

The day all my friends left me

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And here is an extremely late post by yours truly. As you can see from the pictures, I’m a whole month late so you can’t blame me if I have no idea what to write for this post anymore because I can barely remember what I did yesterday. I’ll see what I can manage.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The main reason why I’m only writing about this now is because all the pictures were in my friend’s camera and he wasn’t one to upload albums onto Facebook so I had to physically collect the camera from him. That, and we always forgot to remind and bring the camera when we actually met up.

So here are the pictures, finally. In between sudden death runs in Phantasy Star Online 2, I’d decided that the photos were all pretty self explanatory. By that I mean:

Hey look at me. I’m in a graduation gown that may or may not be mine because I may or may not be graduating (in my case, no), taking pictures with anything and everything in my school because it’s the last few official moments that I’ll be here and I’m sentimental and shit.

Of course I wrote the above paragraph because I’m being lazy and unimaginative. This is a lot of pictures to caption after all. Not to mention a tad bit painful to talk about since it’s my friends, who were from the same batch as me, who are graduating. Without me. Alas, I am not bitter as some people may wish me be, because that only means the guys would be shipped off to National Service and the girls would have to find jobs, further theirs studies or be absolute slobs. Honestly, I don’t think I’m missing out on much. Sure, I won’t get to take pictures with my friends, but do you still remember the pictures from my Secondary 4 prom?

Oh right, there weren’t any.
Sorry~

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Either way, I did have a lot of fun at the ceremony, given that it wasn’t mine. The free lunch and dinners I’d shamelessly looted from the buffet was surprisingly good and I managed to save cash for the three days I went down to have my friends rub their certs in my face. Fuck ya’ll, I went home with something after all.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I would like to caption this picture:

I have a graduation gown and bear. I am better than you.

I kid, the pretty lady hasn’t graduated yet and both of them are really nice to me. Other people… I don’t know.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I found it rather funny how the owner of the camera only showed up in the above picture. I guess that’s just what happens when you’re too busy graduating and being all important and stuff.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I ship this couple like crazy. They’re Azfar’s mom and dad and they are THE SWEETEST COUPLE EVER. They totally deserve a fanclub like wow.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Cheryl, the center of attraction.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Afterwards, we started taking pictures with both parents, mostly because I didn’t want to risk doing something inappropriate in front of them so the only way I knew how to avoid such circumstances was to include them into the havoc we were wrecking.

Still stealing food from the buffet well into the evening.

I’m gonna miss these guys loads too. We met at a camp in Year 1 and started this unofficial club called the Temasek Poly Ghost Hunting Club (TPGHC) because we went around the school in the middle of the night investigating the school’s horror stories. It’s been just the three of us through the years and I can’t believe I’m sending these boys to become men already! Not to mention be their cover dates when their OCS dinner comes around. Ah, the role of being ‘that girl friend’ never ends.

We stayed till they chased us out of the convention center but not before my two guy friends stole a toilet freshener from a cleaning trolley and started spraying everyone’s asses with it.

They were found out, of course.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
And the boys scrambled about each other.

Then we found a lighter.

And this happened.

We girls took our photos,

While the victim of the air freshener turned into the bully.

And somehow the one with the lighter found the one with the spray can and this happened.

FUNNY STORY:

This guy is a lecturer, he just isn’t MY lecturer. He still thinks that he is, up to this day. You see, in my friend’s last semester, I started crashing his Monday lecturers religiously, making him think I really was, even though I must have seemed like a total delinquent, a student of his. I even went for his very last lecture where he gave out tips for their final exam.

Just recently, he waved at me on the concourse and asked me why I haven’t graduated so I told him I was a repeat student (which I was) and that I was taking my remaining modules now making this my last semester. Not exactly a lie I guess.

And that was pretty much my graduation. I’m saying this because I don’t plan on going to my official one, especially if it’s going to be in the afternoon because pictures would be a torture and there is no way in hell am I wearing such a (literally) hot gown for pictures that are too overexposed. Not to mention I’d probably be working by then and wouldn’t be bothered to pay money to rent/buy a gown, let alone go down for the event at all.

I’ll leave you with this picture. I like to caption this:

‘They say the only reason why his graduation gown is so big is because it’s full of secrets.’

Graduation is overrated,

Things I didn’t know about school

It’s been awhile since I’d written about school and what better way than to start with what I don’t know about it?

Well, besides studies, that is.

Really early (a few months back, actually) this semester, I came across this building in my school called Global Connection. Till this day, I still don’t know what it’s for, besides the fact that it’s choke full of green fixtures and was almost responsible for me being late for class.

The 15 minutes grace rule has been abolished, you see, and I forgot I had to head to this place for an 8am class. I mean, you can’t blame me, right? I’m barely lucid at 12pm let alone at 8 in the morning.

Either way, Global Connection turned out to be pretty gnarly a building, with good ventilation despite it being mostly non air conditioned. I thought the day started out great.

That was, of course, we (my group mates and I) found out we had to do our assignment based on the features and our lecturer had spent an hour talking in circles about nothing in particular.
image
image
None of these fingers are mine but you can imagine how grumpy we were in the morning, mainly because:
1) My friend was pointing middle fingers here, there and everywhere.
2) Other friend just could give two shits.

As for said assignment, it was due after the term break but required a software my laptop couldn’t handle. *cough* Software game too strong *cough* so I waited on my class chairman for news of a free access lab to be booked during the break but there was a major communication breakdown and I couldn’t get to a computer for the entire break, leading to an almost-meltdown when I got back to school.

*JANG JANG JANG*

Basically, I found out the assignment was due at 6pm that day and I had a lunch date with an old friend at 4pm, leaving me with an hour or so to complete the software based assignment.

Throughout all the grief and trauma, I pulled through with the help of a newly made friend who sat with me throughout the gruelling task of daylight analysis on my very (very very very very) horribly drawn building (that looked much like a Snicker bar). Thanks to him, I was done in (almost) half the time and managed to get to my friend all the way at NEX, Serangoon, though I was still an hour late.

ANOTHER THING I didn’t know about school was the culture of its National Education (NE) talks.

Honestly, if they (the school) didn’t threatened me with the fact that I wouldn’t be able to graduate without going for said talks at least twice in my poly life, I wouldn’t have bothered. Who has the money for further studies anyway?

Since the risk of not giving a fuck was high, I’d (even!) marked it down on my organiser a good two weeks in advance with the intention of going back to school anyway even thought I was on my Elearning week.

I mean, seriously. What’s the point of giving us an Elearning week when I am perpetually forced to come back anyway?

Nevermind that though, because it gets worst.

I didn’t make the talk.

And it wasn’t even because I was late!
Alright, so maybe I was marginally late, maybe a few minutes off the clock but it wasn’t like I left the house at 4pm when the talk was at 4.30pm.

Another thing to rant about, the talk had this middle-of-nowhere timeslot, disrupting any hopes for me to plan anything for that day. -.-

On top of everything else, I arrived at the scene to learn that the auditorium was reportedly full, meaning I may not have gotten in if I’d been early. The auditorium only catered to roughly 290 students, most I suspect were only there for the sake of attendence and free food. I know because I was planning to do the same thing.

A plus point, or maybe not, was that I wasn’t alone in this horrendous situation. My group mates were also late (it wasn’t my fault okay… I hope…) and were locked out too. One had tried to enter before my friend and I, and was turned down as well as scolded for not being seated earlier.

So, rather defeated by men with waist high dress pants and justice shoved up their asses, I decided we all drop by the bookshop and have ourselves some chocolate since we’d all made rather painful journeys down in the afternoon sun for well, nothing.

A bar of chocolate later, we decided to hit the evening-ish night market (pasar malam) for snacks that were sure to not let us down like our lovely school just had.

The bus stop camwhore was rather inevitable because I had a wig on (was costesting Poison Ivy’s wig) and the heat was getting to us.

We went our separate ways after I had my coffee, while the other two sat and basked in the mall’s air conditioning.

I probably should say something like ‘I didn’t know school would give me so much shit.’ but in all honesty,  I ended the entire day feeling better-than-fine about it, mainly because I was thankful that I had trustable friends to tide these unfortunate events over with.

Sure, school had given me backstabbing bitches, failed modules, dumbass teachers and what not, but mostly, I’d like to say that if I didn’t bother clawing through mountains shit and withstanding flash floods of disappointment coming at me, I probably wouldn’t have found these gems of human beings, who probably got shovelled under all this crap too.

Really makes me wanna work hard and graduate already, eventhough I’m not exactly sure if I’m graduating this year or early next. I’ll figure it out eventually.
Evidently still pretty stupid but at least she’s happy-ish,
Cherie

[FIELD TRIP] Singapore Science Park

image

THIS IS ACTUALLY MY VERY FIRST CLASS FILED TRIP IN MY ENTIRE POLY LIFE AND IT’S SO FUNNY IT’S NOT EVEN WITH MY INITIAL CLASS.

Seriously though, I wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t compulsory. This trip was for assignment or project, I’m not very sure. I’m just hoping that everything would figure itself out by the time the deadlines come, or at least I would.

At some point.

ANYWAY.

We went to the Singapore Science Park to analyze building structure (Y’know, because that’s what I’m supposed to be studying.) and green technology.

image

Lookie here! A concrete pipping that they turned into a shelter. It’s like I’ve gone back to prehistoric times where cavemen would in caves to evade the sun. Oh well, not so much rock, more sand and water!

I don’t think I’ve actually had this much fun in a while, especially in a class- from school. Above few photos were taken with my fellow Singapore Environment Council interns, Shaffy and QQ, as well as the class chairman, Desmond.

Psst, guess his age. 😛

He’s 26.

I. KNOW. RIGHT?

Moving on, we came across this little sitting area that made use of innovative green technology, aimed at reusing products. By innovative green technology, they really mean empty beer crates stacked atop each other and covered with wooden lids. Not to mention, said lids weren’t glued down because the designers didn’t want to use excess adhesives so everyone who say on the little stools slid right off and thought they broke it.

Then again, maybe all of them were broken and people just placed them back so that they didn’t have to pay for any incurred damages, if any. I’m guessing they didn’t go as far as buy these crates.

image

image

Of course, queue my fellow camwhores and I, trying to take gangster shots while sitting rather unglamorously on the crates.

Here we have yet another green feature, the PVC tube wall! Apparently, this shades the interior from rain and sun.

Also, look at my OOTD!

Last pair of shorts I had in my closet x mandatory white tank top x Only school-appropriate bag I own x comfy slippers because it’s too hot out x ‘Oh my God, it’s too hot to bother about hair’ Hair.

After walking around the building, we ventured into the reservoir to look at wildlife and ecology. My lecturer did say that it had something to do with the project, but I’m pretty sure he brought us here because it was on the way.

image

As usual, leave it to me to take really unproductive photos with nice-enough scenery.

image

Shaffy was running around taking pictures with everyone and look what she managed to snap a picture of!

FYI: That’s my lecturer

And finally, a group photo! I’m really thankful for this class. Everyone is easy to get along with and my last few weeks have been a blast. For any of my friend who ever stumbles onto this post, you guys are a lovely bunch of  people and you’re making my last lap an almost effortless one. (:
